If you want to be a girl wizard, then look no further than a Hermione costume. Hermione is the best friend of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is a fantastic character with a quick wit and encyclopedic knowledge – a real swot.

There aren’t a lot of costumes to choose from. You can see a few below. Personally I like the Gryffindor Robe which is also worn by Harry Potter himself.

She starts off in the Philosopher’s Stone by appearing arrogant and Harry and Ron dislike her until they rescue her from a troll. She is so grateful that she lies to protect them from punishment and hence their strong friendship begins.

In the books, Hermione is described as having bushy brown hair, brown eyes and large front teeth. In the Goblet of Fire a spell is placed on her by Draco Malfoy that causes her teeth to grow uncontrollably until she has to have Madam Pomfrey magically shrink them to a smaller size than they were before.

Hermione is a wonderful role model for young girls. She is portrayed during the whole series as having exceptional magical talents, is extremely clever and intellectual. However, she is often bossy but is extremely loyal to her friends and compassionate. Underneath her arrogant exterior she is quite insecure and vulnerable.

In all the films, Hermione is played by the actress Emma Watson. We have seen her grow from a very young geeky looking girl to a beautiful young woman.

Hermione, like Harry and Ron, is a member of Gryffindor, one of the four houses of Hogwarts. You can’t be Hermione without wearing the “must have” grey cardigan with the signature Gryffindor burgundy and gold stripe tie to match. If you fancy something a bit more dramatic, you can wear Hermione’s Gryffindor robe, a black ankle length robe with attached hood.

Don’t forget the accessories for your Hermione costume! If you want to go to the top of the class and cast lots of spells then you really need Hermione’s magic wand made of plastic with ivy shaped accents.
